School Leaders of Color Scholarship Fund
It is critical to increase the diversity of principals and teachers to be representative of the students.
Research shows that Black and Latinx students have stronger academic outcomes with teachers and school leaders of color and 82% of CPS students currently identify as Black and Latinx. School leaders of color bring unique experiences and perspectives that can inform decisions and policies that better meet the needs of students. In an effort to eliminate the largest barrier BIPOC folks face when considering school leadership, we have launched a BIPOC School Leader Scholarship.
What is the School Leaders of Color Scholarship Fund?
The goal of the School Leaders of Color Scholarship Fund is to remove barriers for BIPOC alumni in Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana in seeking sustainable school leadership pathways by providing them with $5,000 scholarships to put toward a principal preparation program.
Current Scholarship Recipients
Last year, we distributed eight $5,000 scholarships to BIPOC alumni currently enrolled in a school leadership preparation program.
