Pre-Service

Dates

Pre-Service will support you in becoming an anti-racist teacher leader, prepare you to provide your students with a high-quality education, and equip you to pursue a lifetime commitment to advancing educational equity and excellence. Throughout the summer and your first 90 days of teaching, you will build relationships with a network of systems-change leaders within your region and across the nationwide 2025 corps. You will engage in continuous and critical self-reflection and immediately put the lessons you learn into action in the classroom and beyond.

TFA’s Pre-Service program takes place over three phases, beginning with Pre-Service pre-work in May and extending through your first 90 days teaching in the fall. Throughout the Pre-Service experience, you will engage in a mix of synchronous sessions that you attend “live” with other corps members and asynchronous content you complete on your own time. We will update these dates as they are confirmed in the winter/early spring.

Pre-Service Journey (the dates below are our best estimated guess based on historical trends. They may change)

  • Pre-Service Launch: Access to pre-work begins in early May and all of your modules are due in early June. (Part-time Asynchronous Work)

  • Pre-Service Kick-Off!: Starts on June 5 & 6! (Full-time Synchronous, Virtual. You’re expected to be full-time TFA. Please plan accordingly to end other employment and arrange for childcare if necessary)

  • Pre-Service Training: June 9-20 (Full-Time Synchronous & Asynchronous Work, Virtual. You’ll have the weekends off as well as Thursday, June 19 to observe Juneteenth)

  • Practicum: June 21-July 25

    • This is your in-person teaching experience where you apply all of the skills you learned during Pre-Service training to your own classroom. You’ll be expected to be fully moved to our region by June 21 (check out our Moving Here page of the Onboarding Hub).

    • June 23-25 will be orientation at schools, preparing your classroom, NLU Orientation, etc.

    • June 28 will be in-person student teaching. When you’re at your school sites your day will begin between 7:30-8am, you’ll be at school until noon, and then you’ll transition home for virtual training sessions until 5pm central time)

      • You will have the 4th of July off but we will have programming on Tuesday, July 5 so please plan accordingly.

  • First 90 Days of School: August-Fall (Full-time, in-person teaching and support)
